Our roasted yerba maté is organically grown, fair trade certified, and makes a delicious, warming cup of maté reminiscent of toasted nuts. Roasted yerba maté is the dry roasted leaves and stems of a South American rainforest holly, a comforting variation of the traditional maté.

In traditional use of yerba maté, the teacup is often shared among close friends and family, all of whom use the same straw, or bombilla. Sharing the same straw is considered a sign of total acceptance and friendship. Yerba maté is one of the world’s most effective beverages with over 196 active compounds which shadows the active compounds found in green tea (Camellia sinensis) which has about 144. This tea contains no filler or flavoring agents, just pure organic roasted yerba maté leaves.

Aroma and Flavor
Roasted maté has an aroma of deep grassy notes and roasted nuts, slightly astringent yet smooth. In comparison, the non-roasted yerba maté has an aroma of freshly cut grass with a powerful green depth, and it is full-bodied and satisfying.
